They are certain that the worst people, like the neo-Nazis and KKK, will dominate society and make life miserable for gays as well as other minorities. Milo has already suffered an extreme gay bashing that put him in the hospital for quite a while and both are seeing graffiti on buildings and car garages with Nazi symbols and threats to kill all the gays. Despite their fears, they date and get to know one another outside of work and quickly engage is super hot sex. Thou Liam is the older of the two, he is very inexperienced in gay sex while Milo is incredibly talented in it. The sex scenes are both numerous and among the hottest that GA has previously written. The ups and downs of a love affair then become the major plot of this wonderful book. It is enthralling to read and should not be missed.Product details

It’s a new world, all right. One that is full of fear and intimidation. It is also full of bravery that seeps out in unexpected places. This is all a pendulum swing and although it swung unexpectedly far and fast, it will swing the other way because the momentum of a pendulum cannot be stopped until it reaches equilibrium. This is the story of two men caught in the frightful world of 2017, having to make decisions daily about what they can or cannot do.
Milo is an out gay man whose mannerisms seem to make him a target for homophobes. He was attacked and brutally beaten, which left him with PTSD and cowering with a sense of dread that everyone is out to get him. After he is released from the hospital, where he was abandoned by his family and his former employer, Milo finds another job where his boss is Liam, a man who is not understood or well-liked by other employees. There is a serious misunderstanding on Milo’s first day which leads to Milo having to defend Liam.
Liam is big, white, in his mid-30s, and to all outward appearances, straight. The fact is, Liam is gay and so far in the closet he can’t even imagine coming out. Ever. When he learns Milo’s story and realizes how terribly frightened Milo is, Liam’s heart softens and he invites Milo to come home with him. Liam is almost a virgin, having had maybe two sexual encounters. While he is willing to have sex with Milo he is not willing to be more out that in his own bedroom.
The rest of the story is the tug of war Liam has between his heart and his mind over being who he is, despite the bitter, hate-filled attitude permeating the country. Could he have chosen a worse time to fall in love with a man? Is it worth it? There are little side stories that are intriguing but the main course is how Milo saves Liam from himself and Liam saves Milo from his own fears. The sex is incredibly hot as Milo teaches Liam what uninhibited sexual play is like, without shame or scorn.
Something to Believe In is written in true GA Hauser style, courageous, confident, yet filled with humor in the face of anxiety. Even so, it makes clear what gays and other minorities are dealing with, even after having gained so much ground toward equality in recent years. And it does have an HEA.

I have many books by Hauser.. I gave this book 2 1/2 stars because it was a little to political for me.Loved the two main characters,but that political doom and gloom just got in the way of me enjoying the book even more.But it was good.
